2008 Senior Event!

Hey everyone - we're going to try something new this year -- television advertising. I've been racking my brains trying to come up with ways to get our name out there more & then lo and behold WDAZ out of Grand Forks called one day. After some thought, we decided what the heck! Can't know til you try something.

So, we're in the stages of planning out these commercials when I got the idea that we could make this into more of an event that we - and some future seniors - could have fun with! So this is what we're gonna do -

We'll have the production crew from DAZ here on March 16 and the idea was to let them film a photo shoot in progress rather than just showing the pretty gallery type images that all studios like to put out there. We're going to put out the all call through newspaper ads, emails, etc to let the graduating class of 2008 know what we're up to - and invite them to register with us to be our models for the day! We'll choose 3 names from the registered entries & they can come have a fun quick session alone and with some friends if they'd like. They'll also get a $10 Gift Card from us. I'm thinking it'll be a great time, make some fun images and do some PR all at one time. Love it!

What do you think?? I'm not hearing from ANYONE!! You can click on the form below to print out if you know anyone that might want to fax or mail it in. They can also go to the link on home page to submit a form... Seeya!

I'm back!

Sorry for being gone for so long! Since the start of September last year, I feel like I've been on constant gooooo. The election came and went in November - it was a tie in case you hadn't heard the news - that I didn't win ultimately. But, we'll try again next time. It was, to say the least, a great experience and I did learn alot. I'm glad I made the effort and next time I'll just know a little more going into it.

Trying to get my head wrapped around the fact that it is now January - and nearing the end of it at that! So, we're busy doing all those fun things that get done in the winter months... all the planning, the taxes, etc, etc. Lots of sitting in front of the computer.

I'm beginning the process of planning out the senior brochures, events and stuff. Anybody have any wishes for the upcoming Senior Year? Let me know - I would love to hear from you. As I get things pulled together, I'll get it posted here so I can get some feedback - PLEEEAASE!

Hillsboro Banner Article

MoonShot Photography
Neil from the Hillsboro Banner did a nice article on Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep last week. Thought you might like to see it so here's the link...

Still struggling to get a good number of photographers on board. We have 2 in Grand Forks - Dan with Blue Stone Photography and Heather with Firelite Studio. In Fargo we still only have Sandra tho. She's getting pretty tired. So far she's photographed 6 babies for 4 families since mid June! She had triplets mixed in there. It's difficult - but it is a wonderful gift - for them and for us.

Will let you all know how things continue to progress.

Photo Session for ME??

Well, I did it! Went to my very first professional photography session ever! Oh, I take it back - had some professional family shots when I was about 3 and then again when Katie was about 5! Forgot about that... A friend of mine did a session of Katie and I together. That was fun.

Anyway... Sandra Rodgers of Baby Takes Photography in Fargo did some images for me that I can use in the campaign this fall - and other fun things like here. Sandra does great work - and does more than kids - weddings, families, seniors and the works. She and I got to know each other through our work with Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep. She and I act as co-coordinators for the state and volunteer our services to the local hospitals. I like Sandra. She's a down to earth, go get em' kinda gal (remind you of anyone??) and we get a long terrifically. It's almost scary! I love having a friend in the business. We don't have to feel competitive with each other - can help one another. Wow. What a concept.

I digress - back to pictures. We had a great time! It was strange to be on the other side of the camera for a change - to feel what it's like on that side of the camera. It was fun! Glad I did it and thought you might like seeing some of the resulting images. I'm uploading a selection - strictly for the fun of it. Let me know what you think!

My nephew Todd gave me an idea to upload some images of a sesssion "behind the scenes". We'll get that done and uploaded this week too. Seeya!

Gorgeous Days!

MoonShot Photography
Boy, we have had some beautiful days lately! Some have been warm, but really when can you remember a North Dakota summer like this. It's been dryer - so fewer mosquitoes! And - the big bonus - no winds! We've been able to catch some wonderful outside images for everyone, including the gals with long hair. Gotta love that.

It's hard to believe its August already. We're gearing up for the sports pictures to start in just a couple weeks out in the Finley-Hope area. Then right on the heels of that is school. Wow.

Hope everyone is able to enjoy the days of summer while they're still here.

County Commission Race

MoonShot Photography
Well, it's official - yours truly is a candidate for Traill County Commissioner, District #3. Whew, thats what I needed - one more thing to do. But, it should be a fun and exciting experience.

Decided to run after my district came up for re-election. It seemed that it gets pretty easy talk about the way things are run, but quite another to get in and become a part of the process. And, when no one runs, our leaders tend to believe that what they're doing is fine. I've never been a big fan of the status quo, so... it's off to the races. After receiving 59 votes in the primary (my counterpart received 68), I'm inclined to believe I'm not the only one in the County looking for a new approach in our local leadership. Got the official certificate of nomination in the mail yesterday!

We're busy brainstorming ideas for the fall campaign - so if any of you have any ideas or thoughts you'd like to share - please send them my way! I'll write more about some of the things we'll be up to when the time draws nearer. Til then...

New! Video Streaming

MoonShot Photography
I'm really excited by this new thing! Called video streaming, it a process of taking individual pictures and streaming them together into a movie. We experimented with some of these on our gallery pages earlier this year (they're still there so you can check them out) and like them so much, decided to invest in some time, self-education and a lovely new program so that I could develop that a bit more...

Wow! This is very cool stuff! There's no limit to the uses for this type of thing... Portrait sessions - or "the year in the life of" - I can see as being just an awesome Senior Keepsake. It could work for archiving family photos (complete with names and dates!). We've already started working some as commercial marketing tools. The list goes on and on.

I'll work up a couple sample portrait videos in a few days and get them posted... You just won't believe how cool this is!
